Abstract | Stress cardiomyopathy, also known as 'Tako-tsubo' cardiomyopathy, is becomming increasingly reckognised disease entity. Its main feature is transient and sometimes severe akinesia of the apical portion of the left ventride, and normal coronarogram. This develops due to decreased contractility of the distal and apical portions of left ventride and compensatory hypercontractility of its basal portions. Tako-tsubo has gained more iwidespread nterest over the past years, when several studies showed it is often underdiagnosed due to its dinical resemblance to STEM!. We present a patient who developed a typical dinical picture and EKG features of STEMI after sever emotional stress. With the typical history and characteristic ventriculography with normal coronary arteries a diagnosis of Tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy was estabished. | |
