Abstract | Background. Flow cytometry is a recently developed method for quantitative analyses of several chemical and physical properties of individual cell. Rapid and accurate simultaneous analysis of 28 properties makes biologic and pathobiologic studies more extensive and objective. Conclusions. In clinical oncology DNA ploidy and proliferative activity of a tumor are among the most important cell properties which can be analysed by flow cytometry. There is a growing evidence that this method might provide an objective prognostic information for treatment of solid tumors. | |
