Abstract		In Slovenia children out-patient clinics exist from 1923. They were founded by professor dr Ambrožič. They operated continuously before, during and after World war II. To-day they perform a complete, complex and continuous out-hospital health care for infants, small children and pre-school children. They perform the following 21 tasks:1. Socio-pediatric knowledge of the area. 2. Socio-pediatric and clinic knowledge of the clients. 3. Analysis and monitoring of morbidity trend. 4. Continuous monitoring of infectious diseases trend. 5. Follow-up and analysis of mortality. 6. Consulting for children. 7. Professional medical control of child care institutions. 8. Professional medical management of children haven. 9. Professional collaboration with vaccination centre. 10. Professional collaboration with home nursing care. 11. Health education. 12. Teaching base for the domain social pediatry. 13. Complex work with children with disturbances in mental and physical development. 14. Professional collaboration with other medical, half medical and non-medical institutions. 15. Collaboration with health authority, management and socio-political forums. 16. Selection of children for health resorts. 17. Treatment of diseased children in our-out-patient departments. 18. Treatment of diseased childien at home. 19. Laboratory activities. 20. Collaboration with medical commission of Slovenian Institute of Health Insurance and provision of legal help from the domain of mother and child legislation. 21. Scientific research activity. - For this kind of work one team is necessary for 800 to 1000 childnen (pediatrician, nurse health technician). Since such an organization of child care in Slovenia provided enviable results at very low means allocated, we are of the opinion that this form of organization should continue also in the future be it in public institutions or privately.
