Abstract		It is vitaly important to recognise patients with dementa and to start their treatment as soon as possible. Since the general practitioner is usually the first to meet the patient, he plays a key role in recognising cognitive impairment. In the present paper, clinical pictures, diagnostic approach and screening tests (Mini Mental State Examination and Clock Drawing Test) are presented.
Summary		Z novimi metodami zdravljenja je pomembno, da čimprej odkrijemo in pričnemo zdraviti bolnike z demenco. Pri tem ima ključno vlogo zdravnik družinske medicine, ki se prvi sreča z bolnikom. V preglednem prispevku so predstavljene klinične slike demenc, pristop k bolniku in uporaba presejalnih testov - Kratek preizkus spoznavnih sposobnosti (KPSS) in Test risanja ure (TRU).
