Abstract     Migraine, a common medical problem, is not just a recurrent headache. Various symptoms and signs may precede, accompany or follow the attacks of headache, thus determing different types of migraine as independent entities. Migraine without aura and migraine with aura are the most frequent varieties. History remains the main tool in the differential diagnosis of migraine, tension-type headache and cluster headache. The neurological examination is normal in these conditions. Unusual features in the onset and course of migraine must be taken as warning signals, that call for further investigations to exclude an organic cause.
