Abstract     Professional dialogue between wine-business and alcohology can he productive for both fields; an in-depth study of the not yet solved problem of moderate wine drinking in the light of epidemiologic problematics of alcoholism is one of the tasks of alcohology. Continuous follow up of regular national statistical data of alcoholic beverages consumption in Slovenia indicates a severe drinking problematics; consumption of pure alcohol per individuum exceeds the European average for about 50 per cent - to the greatest degre as far as the spirits are concerned. From well over 11 litres of pure alcohol yearly consumed per one inhabitant, one half is consumed in the form of wine. Research data of the Slovenian population viewpoints concerning the drinking of alcoholic beverages indicate that the wine is the most favourite alcoholic beverage and that no decrease in its consumption is to be expected. In such a case a possible protecion against alcoholic problematics presents only a personally conscious acting of the individual and of the family regarding wine drinking. The second part of the article enumerates new professional cognitions about moderation in wine drinking that originate from human nature, wine characteristics and present cultural and historical conditions.
