Abstract		In the article, the body and the attitude towards it from the earliest period of life to maturity are presented; the influence of extrinsic factors on physical development is especially stressed, in combination with psychological factors. Body and mind are inseparable and together they shape the individual personality which is unique. The process of human development from a biological being into a psychological one is described.
