Abstract     From 1983 in the Republic of Slovenia 112 stallions were andrologicaly examined, i.e. 43 cool-bloods, 31 lipizzaners, 19 trotters, 9 hatlingers, 8 warm-bloods, 1 throughbreds and 1 arabian. The examination was made in the case of admission of a new stallion in mating or in the case of bad fertility or even sterifity in mares mated by particular stallions. Results indicate that from 112 examined stallions 84 or 75 per cent of them were suitable, 13 or 11.61 per cent conditionally suitable and 15 or 13.39 per cent unsuitable for breeding. As far as the breed is concerned there were 47.58 per cent suitable, 21.05 per cent conditionally suitable and 31.58 per cent unsuitable trotter stallions; 72.09 per cent suitable,13.95 per cent conditionally suitable, and 13.95 per cent unsuitable cold-blooded stallions; 77.78 per cent suitable, 11.11 per cent conditionally suitable and 11.11 per cent unsuitable haflinger stallions; 87.10 per cent suitable, 6.45 per cent conditionally suitable and 6.45 per cent unsuitable lipizzaner stallions. All the examined warm blooded, through bred and arabian stallions were suitable for breeding.
