| Abstract | The author describes some recent knowledge in the field of neonatal neurology, especially that concerning neonatal seizures. Clinical presentation of neonatal seizures is described in detail and the aetiology and late outcome are discussed. The article describes clear clinical entities which chiefly present with neonatal convulsions and presents early epileptic syndromes, which are encountered during the neonatal period. Finally different opinions are presented regarding the introduction, duration and type of anticonvulsive drug treatment. Some useful strategies are presented for dealing with the seizures during neonatal period. | |
