Abstract		A 21-year-old man, amateur football (soccer) player, presented 5 years ago with left atrial rhythm and atrioventricular Wenckebach periodicity in his electrocardiogram. He had no symptoms and signs of a heart disease. After exercise the electrocardiogram revealed sinus rhythm with regular atrioventricular conduction. A 5 years follow-up has been uneventful. His present electrocardiogram shows left atrial rhythm, but no atrioventricular conduction abnormalities. Vagally induced atrial escape rhythm and atrioventricular Wenckebach periodicity seem to be benign arrhythmias in athletes.
