Abstract     In 300 dental stone casts of children aged B to 10 years the lingual fossa depth on the permanent maxillary incisors and the depth of enamel-and dentine-lingual fossa on 14 extracted maxillary incisors were measured. The main lingual fossa depth was 0,56-0,59mm on first incisors and 0,32-0,38 mm on second incisors. The frequency of the shovel-shaped incisors was 13 per cent in males and 7 per cent in females. These values are compatible with those in Caucasoid samples. The investigation results of variability and simmetry of the lingual tossa de th admit the tooth development of researched sample to be undisturbed, there might, however, exist some sex differences in the tooth development.
