Abstract     Clinical entities that most commonly complicate the early postinfarction course and have adverse effects on prognosis include myocardial ischaemia, heart failure and arrhytmias. The objective of the study was to determinate the incidence of these complications in 145 patients with acute myocardial infarction treated at the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases, University Medical Centre, and to investigate possible correlations between these clinical entities. Myocardial ischemia was found in 71.7 per cent of patients (20,2 per cent of those had silent iscemia), heart failure in 40 per cent and ventricular arrhytmias in 65,5 per cent (more than half of them were malignant). We showed the correlation between myocardial ischemia and left ventricular function, between myocardial ischemia and ventricular arrhytmias and between left ventricular function and ventricular arrhytmias, but only the last correlation is statistically significant (p=0,0125).
