Abstract     Background: Osseointegrated dental implants have opened new possibilities for the rehabilitation of totally edentulous patients. Old age is not an important factor affecting implant success or survival. However, age may be of considerable importance in treatment planning. Patients and methods: The article presents the results of long-term observation of patients with dental implants, who were divided in two groups according to age at the time of implantation: less than 60 years (group A), and 65 years or more (group B). Results: The cumulative success rate of implants in both groups seven years after loading was 96% for group A and 97% for group B. Conclusion: Our results are similar to those of other studies and confirm that old age is not a contraindication for the use of dental implants.
