Title     Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic simulation of non-depolarizing muscle relaxant Rocuronium (Esmeron)

Abstract     With the help of a METI Human Patient Simulator and TOF-Watch S we simulated a physiological response after a bolus of a non-depolarizing muscle relaxant Recuronium. The simulations were made twice, first with a bolus of 0,6 mg/kg body weight (used in induction to general anaesthesia) and second with a bolus of 1,2 mg/kg (used in rapid sequence induction technique - RSI) body weight. Resultsshow that the median value of tidal volume (Vt) and peripheral nerve response after first 15 and 30 seconds were significantly higher in the induction than in the RSI group. After the first 60 seconds there was no significant difference in mean arterial pressure, oxygen saturation (Sp=2), partial pressure of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the two groups. The simulation proved the usefulness and accuracy of the simulators and encouraged us to make further simulations extending to drug interactions.
