Abstract     Three different systems for the investigation of the influence of exogenous factors on cytokinin metabolism are discussed: the influence of temperature in Scotch pine, Pinus silvestris, seedling root exudate, the influence of aluminium in two mycorrhizal fungi, Lactarius piperatus and Amanita muscaria, and the influence of the potato virus Y, strain NTN, on the cytokinins of the potato, Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Igor. All three exogenous factors markedly altered the metabolism of cytokinins, resulting in a change of the level of individual cytokinins and their total amounts, except for the virus infection in which total amount of cytokinins did not change significantly.
