Abstract     The effect of vitamin C on the cell-mediated immune response in persons vaccinated aganst rabies with human diploid cell vaccine (HDCV) was studied. It was found that vitamin C in moderate doses (350 mg daily for 14 days) markedly enhances the in vitro response of T lymphocytes to mitogens concanavalin A (ConA) and phytohaemagglutinin-P (PHA-P) and HDCV antigens. From the results obtained, it may be assumed that vitamin C will be beneficial, together with HDCV, in improving the effectiveness of anti-rahies immunization.
