Abstract | Rheological properties of semisolid W/O emulasion systems with silicon surfactant, prepated by our own prescription, were investigated immediately after preparation and during ageing. Classical rotational and newer oscillatory method were used. All three systems exhibited pseudo plastic and viscoelastic behaviour. It was found that elastic properties expressed as storage modulus (G') were more expressed with increasing quantities of incorporated water from 40 percent (w/w) to 90 percent (w/w). Comparison between dynamic (eta) and complex (eta) viscosity demonstrated the existence of numerous secondary interactions, which contribute to the structure of semisolid emulsion systems. Tan delta, the relationship between loss (G") and storage (G') modulus was judged as the most reliable parameter for physical stability evaluation. | |
