Abstract     Chemical composition and nutritive value of 5 samples of drought-stressed forage maize was investigated. In sacco dry matter degradability (DMD) was determined using two sheep. Data were fitted to equation p=a+b(l-e/-ct) and effectove dry matter degradability (EDMD) was calculated using theoretical rumen outflow rate k=0.05 h/-l. Gas production was measured by incubating the samples with rumen liquor in vitro. Organic matter digestibility (OMD) and concentration of net energy (NEL) was calculated from chemical composition and gas production using known equations. The concentrations of NDF ranged from 367.1 to 651.1, ADF from 301.3 to 352.7, lignin from 23.4 to 33.3 starch from less th. 10 to 146.3 and sugars from 24.7 to 117.6 g/kg DM. EDMD varied from 388 to 554 g/kg DM, OMD from 55.8 to 64. percent and concentration of NEL from 4.45 to 5.65 MJ/kg DM. Silages which were made from drought-stressed forage maize were well fermented and stable against aerobic deterioration. It was estimated that drought depressed nutritive value of forage maize for about 20 percent.
