Abstract		Kronična vnetna črevesna bolezen je stanje kroničnega vnetnega dogajanja v steni prebavil in jo poznamo kot Crohnovo bolezen ali ulcerozni colitis. Osnovno zdravljenje vključuje 5-aminosalicilate, kortikosteroide in imunosupresive, in sicer tiopurine in metotreksat. Napredki zadnjih let pri razumevanju patofizioloških mehanizmov nastanka kroničnih vnetnih črevesnih bolezni so doprinesli k razvoju novih zdravil, to je bioloških zdravil, ki omogočajo bolj usmerjeno zdravljenje teh bolezni z manj stranskimi učinki.Inflammatory bowel disease are chronic inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, which clinically present as one of two disorders, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Mainstays of drug treatments include 5-aminosalicylates, corticosteroids and immunosuppressants such as thiopurine and methotrexate. Advances in the undestanding of inflammatory bowel diseases pathophysiologic mechanisms in the last few years have allowed the development of novel therapies such as biologic therapies, which represents a more specific management of this disease with fewer effects.
