Abstract		Chequered Skipper is a rare and localised species in the southern Balkan Peninsula. As a generally more temperate species it occurs at higher altitudes further south. Its presence in Macedonia was expected given its distribution in the neighbouring countries. A single specimen was observed on Suva Planina plateau west of Nova Breznica village. With spring surveys of mountainous regions further records are possible.
