Abstract     Izhodišča Ugotavljanje prisotnosti mikroorganizmov na bolnišničnih tekstilijah ima pomembno vlogo pri preventivi bolnišničnih okužb oziroma okužb, povezanih z zdravstveno oskrbo. Tekstilije so namreč skozi celotno bolnišnično obravnavo v stiku s pacienti in tako predstavljajo možen vektor prenosa okužb. V raziskavi so avtorji primerjali dve različni metodi za vzorčenje mikroorganizmov na tekstilijah pri čemer so si zastavili dve raziskovalni vprašanji: Ali je vzorčenje Staphylococcus aureus na tekstilijah z aparaturo Morapex A bolj učinkovita kot vzorčenje z RODAC ploščicami in ali aparatura Morapex A omogoča detekcijo Staphylococcus aureus na tekstilijah tudi pri nižjih koncentracijah? Metode Za ugotavljanje prisotnosti Staphylococcus aureus na tekstilu smo vzorčili umetno kontaminirani tekstil z RODAC ploščicami s selektivnim agarjem in z aparaturo Morapex A, ki deluje na principu izpiranja mikroorganizmov iz tekstila. Z aparaturo Morapex A smo vzorčili tudi umazane tekstilije iz realnega okolja. Raziskava je potekala v letu 2013 v laboratorijih Fakultete za zdravstvene vede in Fakultete za strojništvo, Univerze v Mariboru. Rezultati Pri vzorčenje z aparaturo Morapex A smo zaznali mikroorganizme v koncentracijah od 3 % 102 cfu/mL do 5,3 % 106 cfu/mL, medtem ko so bile kolonije pri vzorčenju z RODAC ploščicami števne samo pri enem vzorcu, medtem ko so bile pri ostalih vzorcih kolonije neštevne ali pod mejo statistične točnosti. Na vzorcih iz realnega okolja smo zaznali pristnost Staphylococcus aureus v koncentracijah od 102 do 107 cfu/mL. Diskusija in zaključki Uporaba aparature Morapex A je za vzorčenje Staphylococcus aureus na tekstilu primernejša kot vzorčenje z RODAC ploščicami, saj je bolj natančna ter omogoča detekcijo pri nižjih koncentracijah.Introduction Detection of microorganisms on hospital textiles has an important role in the prevention of nosocomial infections or healthcare associated infections. Textiles come into contact with patients throughout the entire hospital treatment and thus represent a potential vector for cross transmission of infection. In this study, the authors compared two different methods for sampling microorganisms on textiles with purpose to find the answer to two research questions as follows: is sampling of Staphylococcus aureus on textiles with Morapex A device more effective than sampling with RODAC agar plates and, is the Morapex A device efficient for detection of Staphylococcus aureus on textiles also at lower concentrations? Methods To determine the presence of Staphylococcus aureus on textiles, the artificially contaminated textiles were sampled with RODAC agar plates with selective agar and with Morapex A device, which operates on the principle of eluting microorganisms from textiles. The Morapex A device was also used for sampling already used hospital textiles from the real environment. The survey was conducted in 2013 in the laboratories of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maribor. Results When sampling with Morapex A device the concentration of detected microorganisms was between 3 x 102 cfu / mL and 5,3 x 106 cfu / mL. On the other hand, when sampling with RODAC agar plates, only one sample was countable, while the othersamples were uncountable or below the limit of statistical accuracy. On samples from the real environment, the concentrations of Staphylococcus aureus were between 102 to 107 cfu / mL. Discussion and conclusions The use of the Morapex A device for sampling of Staphylococcus aureus on textiles is more appropriate than sampling with RODAC agar plates, as the method is more precise and allows detection at lower concentrations of microorganisms.
