Abstract		Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) than general population. Presence of CVD is independently associated with kidney function decline and renal insufficiency is a strong and independent predictor of mortality in patients with different stages of these patients. Recently, a number of cardiovascular biomarkers were identified as predictors of outcome in patient's with CVD. They may be used to guide early dignosis of and therapy for CVD or may predict patient's outcome also in patients with CKD. In this paper authors present potential clinical diagnostic and prognostic use of two important biomarkers, cardiac troponins and brain natriuretic peptide, in hemodialysis patients.
