Abstract     Slovensko nacionalno zdravstveno omrežje zNET predstavlja enotno komunikacijsko platformo za potrebe eZdravja. Z uporabo sodobnih tehnologij in pristopov je poskrbljeno tako za varnost podatkov med prenosom preko omrežja kot tudi za ustrezno zanesljivost oz. razpoložljivost omrežja. Komunikacijske povezave so dimenzionirane glede na zahtevnost storitev eZdravja. Poleg storitve varnega in zanesljivega prenosa podatkov zagotavlja zNET tudi dodatne infrastrukturne storitve, kot so povezava v internet ter požarne pregrade, aplikacijska prehoda, VPN povezave za oddaljen dostop do zNET ter sistem gostovanja elektronske pošte z zaščito pred virusi in nezaželenimi sporočili. Arhitektura omrežja omogoča postopnost izgradnje omrežja, prilagajanje zmogljivosti povezav in omrežnih elementov naraščajočim potrebam naprednih storitev ter neodvisnost od posameznih telekomunikacijskih operaterjev. Z enotno nabavo komunikacijske opreme in zakupom komunikacijskih povezav ter enotnim nadzorom, upravljanjem in vzdrževanjem celotnega omrežja je dosežena ekonomija obsega in s tem precejšnji prihranki, obenem pa so v omrežje povezane organizacije razbremenjene skrbi za zagotavljanje ustreznih komunikacijskih povezav.Slovenian national health network zNET is a unified communication platform for the needs of eZdravje. Modern approaches and technologies are used to secure data during the transfer over the network as well as to reach appropriate level of network reliability and availability. Communication linksare dimensioned according to the demands of individual services of eZdravje. zNET offers, besides a secure and reliable data transfer, a set of additional infrastructural services such as: internet connectivity, central provisioning of firewalls, application level proxies, remote access using VPN technology, and a system for hosting email accounts with antivirus and anti-spam functionality. Network architecture allows gradual network build-out, adjusting capacity of network links and elements to the growing needs of the advanced services and high degree of independence from individualtelecommunications operators. One-stop shopping of communication equipment and links, and centralized control, management and maintenance of the whole network enables economy of scale, leading to considerable savings. At the same time the connected organizations are relieved from the need of provisioning appropriate communication links themselves.
