Abstract     The general atmosphere in a family is very important for a child's healthy development. The principle reason for the origin of aggressiveness, a child's hatred towards his or her environment, reservation and passiveness is the child's lack of care and love. In this article we compare aggressiveness and a parent's upbringing methods in agroup of primary school pupils and a group of adolescents from a boarding home. We used the Buss-Durkee questionnaire for aggressiveness, data from social anamneses and a questionnaire on the upbringing methods of parents and family atmosphere. The results have brought us to the following conclusions: 1. The pupils from the boarding home group were more aggressive than the group of primaiy school pupils. 2. An active-outward directed aggressiveness predominated in the group of primary school pupils, while a passive-introverted aggressiveness predominated in the group of boardingpupils. 3. The upbringing methods, family relations and general atmosphere, as described and experienced by the adolescents differ from group to group. They are more appropriate in the group of primary school children. However, there is no difference in their experiencing of the consequent punishment and strictness of the supervision of movement. 4. There is a considerable difference between the description of family relations as put forward by the boarding pupils and the description of relations which can be seen from the social anamneses.
