Abstract     Fibrinolytic potentials (FP, increase in fibrinolytic activity after stimulation measured with euglobulin clot lysis ot tissue plasminogen activator assay) were determined in a group of 71 healthy men and in 71 male patients with diseases associated with thrombosis. Compared to controls, no difference in FPs after stimulation by venous occlusion were observed in patients with acute deeo vein thrombosis (N equals 27), central retinal vein (N equals 6) and artery (N equals 14) occlusion. Patients after myocardial infarction (N equals 24), especially those after two infarctions (N equals 7), showed significantly lower FPs compared to controls. After succesive application of two stimuli, venous occlusion and vasopressin infusion in 9 healthy men and venous occlusion and physical activity in 16 healthy men, similar FPs were observed. The established discrepancies in FPs after two different stimuli indicate that diferent mechanisms increasing fibrinolytic activity are involved.
