Abstract     In the studied population no typical signs and symptoms of hyperthyroidism were present. According to the difference of TSH concentration after the stimulation with TRH alone and TRH+MCL (metoclopramid), the patients were divided in two groups. In group A with substantially higher TSH concentrations after the test the symptoms of disturbed thyroid function, thyroid autoantibodies, changes in thyroid gland, size and firmness were more often noted. The possible physiologic mechanism were discused. The conclusion was made, that MCL TRH test supplied the same information as TRH test alone, but MCL TRH test is less liable to be false negative and is therefore more sensitive. Key words: hypothyreosis, TSH, TRH-test, metoclopramid, thyroid disorder, thyroid immunopathy.
