Abstract | A simple and quick quantitative diagnostic method for determination of fat content in human muscles in vivo is presented. It is based on a depth pulse sequence applied to a surface coil. The method was tested on an experimental model and compared to a computer simulation. The method allows observation of the high resolution 'H NMR spectrum from the human extremity muscular tissue and the quantification of its fat/water ratio, while the 'H NMR signal from the subcutaneous fat region is suppressed. | |
