Abstract     We have retrospectively reviewed records of patients treated in our clinic and from whose stools either Campylobacter jejuni or Campylobacter coli were isolated. There were 53 patients with C. jejuni infection and 12 patients with C. coli infection. Thirty-four of the patients were children. The patients with c. jejuni enterocolitis were mostly from urbane area. One third of the patients had bloody stools. The illness was of short duration with certain systemic manifestations. The patients C coli enterocolitis were mostly from rural area. The course of the illness was longer and without concomittant headache, meningismus and arthralgias. The clinical picture of infection did not differ significantly between the two groups. Therefore we conclude that infection with C. jejuni and C. coli cannot be differentiated on clinical grounds alone.
