Abstract     The extraction of the gallbladder containing one or more large stones can cause certain problems in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) prior to laparoscopic operation is a safe and efficient method by which the stones are broken down into smaller particles. The extraction of the gallbladder via the supraumbillical port without an extra incision is possible if the described combined method is used.
