Abstract     Human adipose tissue samples of an occupationally exposed and unexposed person were analyzed for PCBs by high-resolution gas chromatography and high-resolution 1H NMR. In addition to parental compounds, PCBs partially oxidized at the most reactive sites of benzene rings were detected and identified by 1H NMR in the samples of the exposed person, while samples of the unexposed person contained only minimal amounts of PCBs. Under certain circumstances, some partially oxidized PCB congeners may be discriminated in human adipose tissue.
