Abstract     The aim of our work was to find the best diagnostic and therapeutic approach to the problem of FUO and PSEUDOFUO in childhood. Three series of patients were studied: group 1 (1972-76), group 2 (1986-90), group 3 (1993, 1.1.-30.4.). These patients were selected through all children admitted at the University Department of Infectious Diseases, Ljubljana, over the investigated period. All groups consisted of patients aged 15 years or younger, which fulfilled the following criteria: fever of at least two weeks; temperature exceeding 38 degrees C on several occasions; unexplained low grade fever, with no diagnosis after simple laboratory tests after three weeks of duration. According to the diagnosis, the patients were grouped into five categories: infection, connective tissue or inflammatory disease, neoplasms, miscellaneous and undiagnosed.
