Abstract		Health and social status of student population is regularly followed by preventive check-ups and curative consultations in the Outpatient clinics for students. Preventive check-ups are organisationally well established, allowing concomitant evaluation, comparison and analysis of trends in this field. In the period from 1981/82 to 1991/92 several changes in social structure, dwelling conditions and habits of students (eg. more sport activities, less smoking, more prevalent alcohol consumption) were noticed. It was also found that incidence of illnesses and disorders at preventive check-ups rather differs from the one at curative consultations. Special attention is paid to disorders like hypertension in which good health education and health care can improve condition and prevent long-term consequences and complications.
