Abstract		The image of a doctor as a literary figure always depended on the status of medicine in time and place, to which he belonged. The Molier doctors symbolise the absurdity of scholastic thinking. In the industrial era the doctor symbolised the magic function of industrial medicine. The post-modern time takes off the magic function from the medicine and thus the literary image of post-modern doctor is changed.
