Abstract		This paper discusses the use of skin sensation as an information channel to be used for restoration of lost proprioreception and exteroception in paraplegic patients. The sensory information is transmitted by functional electrical stimulation. The properties of such an information channel are highlighted and the results obtained in 10 normals and 3 paraplegic patients.
