Abstract     Dandanes predstavlja rak velik zdravstveni problem, saj so razpoložljivi terapevtski pristopi in klasična zdravila le omejeno učinkoviti, njihova uporaba pa je povezana z resnimi sistemskimi stranskimi učinki. To je razlog za razvoj sodobnih dostavnih sistemov za vnos protirakavih učinkovin v tarčne lezije. Zelo aktualne so zlasti raziskave na področju nanodostavnih sistemov (NDS) za zdravljenje in diagnostiko raka. Z načrtovanjem in pripravo NDS z ustreznimi lastnostmi (velikost, naboj, površinske lastnosti) lahko izboljšamo učinkovitost zdravljenja s protirakavimi učinkovinami, hkrati pa se zmanjša pojavnost sistemskih stranskih učinkov. Ciljano dostavo protirakavih učinkovin v tarčne lezije lahko dosežemo bodisi s pasivnim ali aktivnim ciljanjem. Uspešnost ciljane dostave pa zavisi tudi od vrste in stadija tumorja. Danes je omejen nabor nanozdravil za pasivno ciljanje tumorjev že na tržišču, medtem ko so nanozdravila za aktivno ciljanje še v različnih fazah razvoja ali kliničnih raziskav.Nowadays cancer represents an important public health problem, due to limited efficacy of available therapeutic approaches and classical anticancer medicines, which are often associated also with serious systemic side effects. This is the reason for the development of novel delivery systems for anticancer drug delivery into the target lesions. Very important in particularis the research on nanodelivery systems (NDS) for the treatment and diagnosis of cancer. The design and preparation of NDS with suitable properties (size, charge, surface characteristics) can improve the efficacy of treatment with anticancer drugs, while reducing the incidence of systemic side effects. The targeted delivery of anticancer drugs into the target lesions can be achieved either with passive or active targeting. The effectiveness of targeted delivery depends also on the type and stage of the tumour. A limited number of nanomedicines for passive tumour targeting is already on the market, while nanomedicines for active targeting are still in various stages of development or clinical trials.
