Abstract		The paper deals with all aspects and dimensions of dental health education offered to children in Slovenia. Instruction is conducted individually and in groups by dentists and members of other professions. An eight-year survey of caries prevalence among Slovenian children has revealed a steady decline in caries rates, associated with an increase in the proportion of caries-free individuals. The results show considerable regional variation, which is partly attributable to variable standards of dental health education. The author identifies shortcomings in the present system and suggests improvements that would enable all populational groups to receive adequate and continuous dental health education.
