Abstract		The aim of this study was to examine dentists' attitudes to public dental health education and to assess the amount of time that they devote to educational activities. A questionnaire was employed. The responses obtained show that dentists treating childen consider patient education an important responsibility. They engage in chair-side instruction as well as in group instruction offered to children, parents and other groups. Most study participants fell that our public dental health service is oriented mainly into corrective treatment, while preventive care is underrated. They believe that the media should assume a more active role in promoting health educational issues.
