Abstract		This report describes a 30-year-old woman suffering from a personality disorder, who was referred to the author for a dental extraction under general anaesthesia. Since the patient failed to meet the requirements for the procedure, root-canal treatment was initiated after suitable psychological preparation. Contrary to all expectations, the treatment proved effective. The healing process is illustrated with radiographs.
