Abstract		Handicapped individuals suffer from a wide spectrum of physical and mental disorders. Like healthy people, they need comprehensive dental care, which must focus on prevention. The procedures used do not differ from those employed in other population groups. The quality of care offered to the handicapped should meet or, preferably, surpass the standards defined for the general population.
