Abstract		The paper deals with the maintenance, cleaning and disinfection of removable prosthodontic appliances. The main clinical forms of denture related stomatitis are described, and the most common infective agents are listed. These include Candida species and various saprophytic bacteria, which are found in contaminated acrylic resin of removable dentures. The second part of the paper is devoted to the evaluation of Turbo-Prot, a new device for cleaning of dentures and orthodontic appliances. On the basis of test results, Turbo-Prot cannot be recommended as an efficient cleaning aid.
