Abstract | The expansion properties of a phosphate bonded investment material (Aurovest) were compared to those of a gypsum bonded investment by measuring the fit of castings to a steel master mould with a 6 degree slope (figures 1 and 2). The results, presented in table 1, show the phosphate investment to be distinctly superior since it accurately compensates for alloy shrinkage during crystalization and cooling to laboratory temperature. Different concentrations of silica gel in the expansion fluid for the phosphate investment were tested. | |
