Abstract     We have studied morphology and topography of the venous coronary sinus (CS) on 60 cadavers of adults. The average lenght of the CS is 4.3 cm, its greatest width corresponds to the longitudinal diameter of its orifice (11.25 mm), its greatest thickness corresponds to the transversal diameter of the orifice (8.63 mm). The number of coronary sinus affluents is four to ten: most frequently we find four of them (37%), five in 30%, six in 17% of cases, seven (8%), eight (5%) and most rarely (3%) CS has ten affluents. The form of the orifice of the CS is oval (93%) or round (7%). The orifice is provided with a valve in 90% of the cases. The mean distance between CS orifice and the Eustachian valve is 4,2 mm, the orifice is placed at a distance of 10 mm from the opening of the inferior vena cava, 11.3 mm from the right AV opening and 12 mm from the fossa ovalis (FO). The CS orifice is placed between the opening of the inferior vena cava and the right AV opening in 63% of the cases, more rarely (22%) it is placed between the FO and the right AV opening and in 15% of the cases the orifice of the CS is equally remoted from the inferior vena cava, the right AV opening and the fossa ovalis.
