Abstract     A 16-years-old boy with paracentral retinochorioiditis was treated with systemic steroids only, and the process subsequently spreaded into the macula. The inflamed aphakic left eye of a 47 year old man was first incorrectly diagnosed as uveitis. Systemic steroid therapy worsened the situation. Vitrectomia and examination of the specimen disclosed Pseudomonas species and Cephalosporium acremonium endophthalmitis, resulting from keratitis.
