Abstract     In a stroke unit 34 patients were observed. In all of them cerbrovascular disease was found as the reason of irreversible coma: 5 patients suffered subarachnoidal haemoorhage (14.7 percent), 6 patients (17.64 percent) ischemic stroke, 23 patients intracerebral haemorrhage (67.66 percent). We observed significancy in correlation between isoelectric EEG and clinically diagnosed irreversible coma in separate groups. Proportion of isoelectric EEGs before the diagnosis of brain death was settled was high in coma due to subarachnodial heamorrhage (r=0.39) but not in coma due to ischemic stroke (r=0.031) and intracerebral hemorrhage (r=0.001). We conclude that in case of isochemic stroke or stroke due to intracerebral heamorrhage EGG may not be valuable predictive procedure.
