Abstract | The contemporary approach to health care provision for young people at the primary level not only requires a sufficient number of health professionals, but also includes other criteria, such as: availability, visibility, quality, confidentiality, affordability, flexibility and coordination. In Slovenia, health care of school children and youth at the primary level has gradually improved over the last eighteen years. There are however, still significant differences between health regions. To achieve the minimal accepted standard - 156 school health doctor teams as set out in "The Slovenian National Plan of Health Care till the Year 2000", 17 physicians, 59 state registered nurses and 10 state enrolled nurses will need to be employed. If only specialists are included in all teams, 63 specialists will be additionally required. | |
