Abstract		The characteristics of adolescent sexual behaviour and possibilities of appropriate contraceptive choice are presented. Special attention is paid to circumstances surrounding the decision for contraception and compliance with contraceptive use. Adolescents can be advised of a wide range of contraceptive methods. Of prime importance are the adolescent's decision for contraception, the choice of a method and continoued compliance. Sex education should be a part of education forlife.
