Abstract     The introduction of aspiration kidney biopsies together with new techniques into the clinical practice after 1951 was a tremendous boost to the development of modern nephropathology and nephrology. Glomerular kidney disease have been among the most deeply explored and widely discussed issues in pathology. The paper presents an overview of the pathology and pathogenesis of the main forms of isolated glomerulonephritis and glomerular involvement in systemic disease based on studies of 679 aspiration kidney biopsies in 632 children in comparison with 3875 biopsies in 3345 adults.
