Abstract		The article describes our current experience in research work and indicates its future course. Social paediatrics is dealt with in a disjointed way in Slovenia. At the Children Health Center Maribor our tendency is to observe systematically healthy children and their interactions with the surroundings. Our intention is to establish anthropometric standards in co-operation with other paediatric an non-paediatric institutions working in the fields of developmental paediatrics, anthropology, auxology, social medicine, epidemiology and hygiene. This research, which has to be done outside of the hospital should be financially supported and well organised. Research activities in Slovenia are poorly developed outside the hospital and other health departments of social security. Even though financial support for research is available (Field: Public Health), it is very hard to obtain. There is no information as to which public health institution allocates these fields.
