Abstract		The number of immunocompromised patients is increasing steadily. Infections in these immunocompromised patients are difficult to treat, even with current antimicrobial agents. Immunomodulation by antibacterial agents shows promise as a novel strategy in the treatment of infectious diseases. The general overwiev of interactions between antibacterial agents and host immune system is presented in this article. Cefodizime which has shown some remarkable immunomodulating activities is described.
