Abstract		From community refuse deposits and from other deposits as well, landfill leachate flow out, loaded with various pollutants to such extent that they should, taking in consideration the prescribed legal standards of parameters, not be let out - untreated - directly to the environment or into a recipient. So these waste waters have become a strong source for the pollution of environment, and first of all for the pollution of groundwater, being the main source of drinking water. For this reason the sanification of this source of water polluting is urgent and a large professional literature testifies that this is not only our problem. In addition, the article indicates some foreign experiences in the application of ozone in the purification treatment of landfill leachate, which could be, of course suitably adapted to our weather conditions and successfully utilized in our country. Although the ozone technology is only in its starting condition at the present, some environmental problems could be solved already today.
